Calvin Klein Collection Resort 2014–Following four seasons working directly with American designer Calvin Klein, Italo Zucchelli assumed the role of Calvin Klein Collection menswear creative director in 2003. Beginning with his first collection that same year for the spring/summer 2004 season, the Calvin Klein man under Zucchelli’s vision has gradually evolved.
It seems like Calvin Klein has embraced the future a little sooner than the rest of us. Now we’re still without our flying cars and Rosie robots (fingers crossed for 2014), but we are getting some cutting edge fashion trends. Calvin Klein’s Pre-Fall 2014 collection seems to be leading the charge for this New Year in fashion. The Tokyo skyline inspires the collection, which is blatantly apparent on one of the sweaters. The rest of the collection pays homage in a much more subtle way.
The metallic color palette is very reminiscent of a large city like Tokyo. Lush navy blues and shiny rust colors coupled with specialized tailoring gives this collection an effect that makes it a stand out of the new year. Another interesting thing to note about this collection is the fact that its loose and comfortable for the man who doesn’t want to seem trapped within his clothing. The pieces have something of a sportswear feel about them, namely in the garments featuring the padded cross-stitch and bomber style jackets.
